Sun Exposure

When deciding what types of plants and flowers to grow in your space the first thing you will need to do is determine your sun exposure for each space you wish to fill. Sun exposure refers to how much sunlight plants will receive in a given location.

Full Sun

An area is considered Full Sun if it receives 6+ hours of full direct sunlight a day

Partial Sun

An area is considered Partial Sun if it receives 3-6 hours of full direct sunlight a day

Shade

An area is considered Shade if it receives less than 3 hours of full direct sunlight each day

How to choose the right size pot for your needs:

You should always choose the largest size possible when selecting pots.

The larger the pot = more soil space = the more room your plants have to grow.

The more room your plants have to grow, the nicer they look. It is also easier to care for and maintain a larger pot versus small as larger pots require less frequent waterings.

You should also consider the space and environmental context of your pots when determining size. For example, if you have a large entrance way and doors pots that are too small will look lost and unproportional. Conversely, a small entrance way with pots that are too large will look out of balance and out of place.
